We decided we wanted to have one last barbeque before the weather gets too cold. We are so fortunate to be able to have a large backyard for hosting parties, and we take advantage of it as often as possible. Definitely do not miss apartment living- except for maybe having a pool.
We invited Mic’s whole family over to celebrate Brook’s birthday, and just to get together. It's always fun getting together with his family because it is HUGE! Just a Sunday dinner with them is equivalent to my whole dad’s side of the family’s Thanksgiving dinner.
But unfortuently only his parents, three younger sisters and Keith and Brook said they could come to our party. I made a bunch of cupcakes, and Mic was busy making his infamous burger patties when his Brother and Sister both said their families could come afterall. (*sidenote: I’d invited my mom and younger brother to come to the BBQ too). So at first we thought the party would be just 12 of us- and that number quickly doubled. Mic’s grandparents also came as well.
It’s so nice having family live close- for the most part anyway. Michelle is in Denver and Kate in St. George.
We don’t have a lot of patio furniture so it was a BYOC- Bring Your Own Chair. Maybe for Christmas I can get some folding chairs.
It did end up getting cold outside so we moved the whole party into the house. Our living room was cramped but it was fun. Mic even dragged out his awesome 70’s loveseat that is usually hidden in the spare bedroom- so we’d have more seating. I wish I’d gotten a picture with people sitting on it- why people thought that couch was ever attractive is beyond me. It’s a weird orange/rust color with velvet leaves on it. Weird! *Mic’s neighbor put it on the curb for curbside cleanup (what’s the technical name for that cleanup anyway?) and Mic thought he’d scored a treasure & took it home to his parent’s- sometime while we were in high school. Then later to his apartment, and then to our apartment, and now our house.
Pictures from the party- the lighting is kind of weird since it was dusk, and I used my phone to take these pictures. I really need to "borrow" my mom's fancy camera.
Me and my love
