Adventures with the Twiners

Mic & I celebrated his birthday with his family and I attempted to make him a cake. Honestly I don't know why I always volunteer to make his bday cake because it NEVER turns out cute. But he's always nice and says its the thought that counts, and as long as it tastes good who cares what it looks like. I definitely won't be pursuing a cake decorating career, or any bakery type job. It did taste delicious. I made it a white cake & added nerds to make a "funfetti" type look. I also did 4 layers each a different color. But for some reason my cake pans hate me & even with "non-stick" pans & some cooking spray the cake stuck to the bottom so it made it lumpy weird when I layered them. Ps Can't believe Mic's already 28! We're getting old.

Last week my cousins & my favorite twins were in town for the week from Seattle. It was fun getting together with them, Fin & Emory are getting so big & are so entertaining. I watched them one day while their parents hit up the slopes. We had fun at the park with Sophie, doing crafts, and watching Despicable Me. I didn't even realize I owned that movie, until Em found it in with my DVDs.

Weekend away to Las Vegas

We had a long weekend off work & school so I planned us a trip to Vegas for Valentines day/Mic’s birthday. We aren’t gamblers but Vegas is close & the weather forecast was warm (I am so over winter). And nice hotels are inexpensive.

We left after work/school Wednesday and drove to St. George. We got there late, and stayed the night with Mic’s sister Kate. She was nice to give up her King size bed for us, and slept on her couch.

Thursday we woke up and went to my favorite Bear Paw for breakfast. Shopped a little, and then headed to Vegas. We checked into our hotel, grabbed dinner, shopped & walked the entire strip & back. That city is crazy at night.

Before we’d left home I’d set up an itinerary of things I wanted to do/see. One of which was hiking in Red Rocks Canyon which is just outside the city. Somehow I forgot to pack hiking clothes/shoes though. While shopping at some outlets I told Mic that maybe I could find inexpensive tennis shoes to hike with- and if I didn’t maybe some thrift store would have some. But I didn’t want to pay a lot for cute ones that would get super dirty on the hike. I lucked out & found some cute ones for $15 in the kids section (since I wear size 4/5 shoes).

Friday we hiked most of the day & took a ton of pictures. Afterwards we also ate at DW Bistro which a friend recommended. It was delicious! Small bistro with a modern look. The owner is from Jamaica but lived in New Mexico, so the menu is a twist of Jamaican Tex Mex. And since it was our first time there, they gave us free dessert, which was also to die for. Seriously if you’re ever in Vegas, go to Summerlin & DW Bistro, you won’t regret it.

We also went to the hotels spa for hot tubing/sitting in the saunas. What I didn’t realize is that there was a separation between the male/female part of the spa. I headed into my side thinking it would join up with Mic’s but after sitting in the hot tub alone for a while I asked one of the spa attendants if the guys side joined this hot tub or not. It wasn’t as relaxing by myself & I kept stressing about figuring out when Mic would be done & waiting for me in the front of the spa. Finally some attendant came & told me that my husband said he’d meet me at 6:30. So I relaxed alone in the hot tub, and wet & dry saunas. Definitely would’ve been more enjoyable with him but still super fancy spa.

Saturday we shopped some more & then headed back to St G. We went to dinner with Kate at Samurai 21 & had yummy sushi. Recently we’ve gotten into eating Sushi, and I keep surprising myself by how much I enjoy it every time I try a new place/roll.

The weather was low 60’s*, and a beautiful blue sky. It was hard coming back to weather in the 30’s*. We’re seriously considering moving to St George in the near future. Yes it is unbearably hot 2 months out of the year there, but that beats SLC cold 6 months out of the year. I hate being cold. And I’ve always wanted to move to St G.

Happy B-day

Lately...

I keep thinking I'll update the blog, but then I realize A: nothing I type will top my last blog post bc it was hilarious and B: We haven't done anything to really blog about.
Pretty sure I've reread that last blog post 20x & I laugh everytime. That story will never get old.
So I guess what we've been up to lately:
Last Sunday we wanted to get out of the gross inversion, so we headed to Park City for the day. Hit main street for lunch at a yummy BBQ place & ate WAY too much food. Shopped on main street & hit the outlets- which is always a success with good deals. Then we came home & Mic watched the super bowl while I studied Patho. That class is kicking my butt.
Earlier that week I met Laura & my mom to look at wedding venue places & to shop for wedding dresses. We only went to one wedding dress shop so we'll have to shop some more another day. We went to the shop where I found my dress that I LOVE, but 4 years later that place is selling a whole different line of dresses that are crazy expensive "couture" gowns.
Last night we got together with my friends & their spouses for our quarterly get together. We ate dinner & played games. Seriously I love playing games with groups of people more than anything. Pretty sure the girls won the boys at Catch Phrase, and I tried to work on my math skills keeping score with Farkle.
Today I got my hair done finally! Too bad its starting to snow like crazy, so I probably won't go anywhere looking cute.

Even after a trim, and with it curled my hair looks super long. Crazy.

So that pretty much sums up our life. School, work, repeat.
