High School Football

Last week (10/19) we went to Mace’s last ever football game. So crazy to think there will not be any more football games. He started playing at like 8 years old, and other then taking sophomore and junior year off & then resuming for senior year- he hasn’t had a break.

I’ve learned a lot about football over the years, mainly from John Madden’s xbox game Mace had. And I still get teased that my favorite teams are the Cowboys & the Colts because “they had the cutest helmets”. And yes, still to this day I cheer for them- although I try and drop some names (I only really know the quarterbacks) and sound smart- but really it’s because out of the whole NFL they have the cutest helmets (Star & Horseshoe). The best ever football quote I have is from a conversation Mic & I had once. “I just realized everything I know about football is all thanks to Steve Madden..” –me “Steve Madden?? You mean John Madden...” –Mic. “Oh ya, John Madden.. I got my shoes and football mixed up!” –me, in probably the blondest voice ever. We were walking through Target at the time, and I hope someone overheard this. LOL. My husband loves me anyway, even if some days I am the blondest person on the planet.

Which PS Hillcrest High School football games are so much fun, not only because it was the last year Mayson would be playing, but because that school brings back so many memories. Mic and I met in high school my sophomore year (and his junior). I wish we had pictures of us sitting in the stands-to put alongside the one we took recently, but I really don’t think we do? I’ll have to go through my mom’s bazillion photo albums.

I loved watching all the highschoolers cheering & just being teenagers. I kept asking Mic if we (and by we I really just mean me) were that crazy/silly/”so highschool” and we probably were. It’s a wonder we’ve “been in love” (haha so cliché) all these years, when we are and aren’t the same people from high school. If that makes sense? Probably only in my head J

PS Mace is probably glad there are not any more games for me to cheer at... since I was the one yelling loudly in the stands (or on the sidelines, back before he was playing in high school). “Are you kidding me!?” –when the ref called a penalty. “My sister can play better then you!” –when our team was playing poorly. “Give me a whistle and I’ll ref the game!” – when the ref again was calling bad penalties.

Me & Mic at Mace's last game. - and two pictures I found on my computer from when we were dating in High School. Definitely not my absolute favorites, but unfortunately those are not saved on the computer I'm using. The middle one we look SO young. Love us. And funny that my hair is dark in both pictures, only like once did I think it would be fun to be brunette- for all of 3 months maybe.. pretty sure I will always be blonde.
