In celebration of the 1/2 way mark of pregnancy, I decided to take out my belly button ring. I got my belly button pierced on my 18th birthday, and have never taken the ring out, except to switch out rings but never kept it out. My mom threatened to not financially help support my college education if I got the piercing... but being the crazy stubborn individual that I am, I went through with it, regardless of the repercussions. Needless to say that when she did discover the piercing it did not go over well.
I'm still getting used to my "naked" belly button.
We've always taken Soph on nightly walks around the neighborhood but we've added morning walks to our routine as well. Even though this means waking up earlier than usual on an already too early morning before work & school. I've come to appreciate the extra exercise. I'm determined to stay active and keep my weight in check- being the weight obsessed individual that I am.
We have our usual route that we stick to. We walk past the same dogs in their yards, kids outside their houses & old couples sitting on their porches at night. I've come to naming all of them and referring to them with their "names" that I've made up, since we don't know their actual names. Well some of the "grandparents" we have learned their names, but prior to introductions it was fun to refer to them as "Clyde & Betty" and other old names. I'm weird like that, esp when it came to the dogs names or the cute toddler that will always be referred to as Ellie or Abby if you ask Mic.
On our latest walk we walked past an old couple's house that we hadn't actually talked to. The man stopped us on our walk and mentioned how he always saw us walk past his house but hadn't talked to us yet, and wanted to know who we were & where we lived. Turns out him and his wife were really good friends with my grandma- when we told him we live in her house after she passed away. The best part of this is when he said "your grandma liked to have tea with us, and she said she enjoyed our company because she never had to watch what she said..." I laughed and said "yup, that definitely sounds like something my grandma would say." She definitely spoke her mind, and rarely had any sort of filter. I'm sure Mic would say that I'm like that around him sometimes, and "say it like it is". Although I'm still working on having more of a poker face, and not displaying exactly what I'm thinking on my face, which can get me in trouble.
ps
A year ago from now I got my acceptance letter to nursing school, and then a month later found out I'd be starting a semester early with a 4 day notice. Crazy how far I've come in a year. Everything I've ever wanted is coming true, I'm going to be a mom & a RN soon! Pinch me.
