St George Girl's Trip

The annual “Girl’s Trip” to St. George was last weekend. Last year it was Tifanie, her mom, sister & I. And we saw Disney’s Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. That’s when we decided this would be an annual weekend away. This year my mom and sister came as well, so it was me, my best friend Tif and our sisters and moms. Super fun.
We got there Friday and had dinner at a fancy restaurant called the Painted Pony. Dining there is an experience, and the presentation of the food is as good as the food itself. Fancy appetizers and desserts, and delicious steak.  I of course took pictures of every dish.
After dinner we went to Tuacahn to see Aladdin. Boy was it hot at the outdoor amphitheater, even long after the sun had gone down! We had the perfect seats too.
Aladdin was good but nothing in comparison to Little Mermaid. There was a lot of emphasis on the special effects for Aladdin and the computer screen/3D screen in the background and less on the performers I felt like. Especially during the whole scene where Aladdin is underground looking for the lamp.. that whole scene I felt like I was watching some video game (which is not my thing). But overall it was good and I’m glad we went.
Friday night we were able to stay at the Harmon’s condo (which is so nice, and roomy enough for everyone). Laura found some weird looking bug in the bathroom though, at first she thought it was a feather on the ground and was alarmed to see that it had a million legs and was a bug! She freaked and wanted someone to capture/kill it. After we all checked it out, only I was brave enough to capture it in a Tupperware container. It was pretty freaky looking but spiders/bugs have never bothered me… with the exception of snails! I am definitely scared of snails. We ended up google-ing this bug somehow & learned that it is some sort of centipede I guess. It originated/is mostly found in California though, and isn’t native to Utah, or normally found outside of California actually.
Saturday we woke up super early (after having stayed up until 2am chatting) to go yard selling. Only Tif, her mom, and I got up, everyone else wanted to sleep in. Yard selling ended up being a bust unfortunately. Everyone was selling mostly baby/kid stuff.
After yard selling we all met up for breakfast at my absolute favorite breakfast place, The Bear Paw!
They have the best stuffed French toast and home fries. I seriously crave it all the time, and only get down to St George like twice a year.
After breakfast we walked over to my favorite consignment store “Urban Renewal” but didn’t have much luck there as well. It’s probably better that way though, I have way too much stuff as it is, and my mom is majorly downsizing her house to put it on the market and is building a new (smaller) home. We shopped most of the day Saturday and then went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I had wanted to go somewhere local for dinner that we can’t eat at home, but Texas Roadhouse sounded good too so we just went there instead of trying to find somewhere new.
Tif, her mom, and Cass left Saturday but we stayed a second night and got a room at the Hampton for the night. It’s not as nice as the Marriott down there but it was clean and quiet and had free continental breakfast.
Saturday night we were exhausted from all the shopping, and the crazy heat so after dinner we just hung out in the hotel room. I had brought my portable dvd player for the car ride (that we didn’t end up using on the drive) and season one of Parks and Recreation and season one of Modern Family. I introduced Laura and my mom to Modern Family, they hadn’t ever seen an episode. And I LOVE LOVE Modern Family. They loved it too and thought it was hilarious. To anyone who hasn’t seen it seriously go Hulu it or Netflix it right now. And if you don’t like it than I don’t think we can be friends, JK.
Sunday we went on a scenic drive of the red rocks, took some pictures and walked around the temple grounds. The Mormon temples have beautiful landscaping btw.
Speaking of taking pictures, Tifanie and I are the queen of taking pictures and somehow we managed to only get like one picture of us right before the play started. After she’d headed home and I’d realized this I was SO disappointed. So next year when we go down to see Mary Poppins, I am determined to take a ton of pictures... and convince her that it is too far of a drive to only go for one night!
I'll have to upload the picture of us at Tuacahn and an upclose picture of the centipede so you can see how freaky it is later when I get them from Laura/Tif.
