Roughin' it

We decided at the beginning of summer time/when Mic got his new M-F job,  that we wanted to go camping more often. Since I have every other Friday off, we thought those weekends would be perfect.
I woke up early Friday and got everything ready for our camping trip while Mic went to work.
I went grocery shopping, figured out all the meals, packed the cooler, and got all the camping gear ready. What a process!
It was all ready for when Mic got home from work and all we had to do was load it in the car. I’m so impressed with Mic’s packing abilities, because our car is not big & we still manage to fit a large cooler, large tent, tent poles, tarp, 2 camping chairs, a hammock, 2 duffel bags, sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, and our food all in it. He keeps saying we “need” a truck, but I’m thinking our little civic does just fine. Maybe not so much on the dirt roads…
We headed towards Oakley because I wanted to stay at Smith and Moorehouse Reservoir. Neither of us had been there before. I didn't think to reserve a site beforehand, so we got all the way there to find out both campgrounds were full. Plan B: we headed back towards Kamas to check out that canyon, where we’d gone a few weekends ago. We soon realized those campgrounds were full as well. At this point I was getting SO grumpy. Nothing was going according to my plan. And I’m really not a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants sort of person. Mic wasn’t worried, he said we’d find some random remote spot to just set up our tent. He’s so laid back/go with the flow.
It always does manage to work out so I don’t know why I stress when my itinerary isn’t going exactly as I had planned.
We did find some remote spot to set up camp, and after everything was set up and in its place, I apologized for being a royal pain for the last 2 hours.
It soon got dark and we made a fire, roasted smores, and then went to bed.
It was super cold, even in our fancy double sleeping bag.
Saturday we got up early, and made breakfast burritos. We headed to the lake to fish. No such luck catching anything but it was still fun hanging out by the water. After lunch we just hung out around our camp spot. It’s so nice to just get away from it all & enjoy each other’s company. No distractions. No cell phone service, facebook, tv, etc.
We went on a little hike too.
Sunday we just got up and packed up our camp and headed home because we had my family party that afternoon that we needed to be back in time for.
Overall it was a fun weekend away.
Next time I’ll know to either A: make reservations in advance, or B: just get it in my head beforehand to be more laid back and not have an itinerary… ya right ;)

I got tired of not catching anything so I decided I'd fish just as well laying down :)
