I don’t know how life got so crazy busy but I haven’t had
time to blog for awhile. And really with school coming to an end for the
semester/studying for finals- Mic & I haven’t been up to anything too
exciting lately/blog worthy. LOL.
Some highlights off the top of my head that have happened
lately:
We did house sit my friend’s house in beautiful Suncrest for
a week. We LOVED it. It was like our own staycation/home away from home. Soph
loved playing with their big dogs, and 3 cats. I’ll have to blog about that
later & the funny stories & upload the pictures.
Sad story: we had to put down my family dog of 12 years at
the beginning of April. That was rough. Duncan was the first and only dog our
family has owned. Best rescue dog ever. I will miss snoodle doodle dunc so
much. When I was first grieving I came across this really good quote “I guess
you don’t really own a dog, you rent them, and you have to be thankful you had
a long lease.” I plan on writing a post about Duncan and including some
pictures later.
We celebrated Sophie’s first birthday. I always thought it
was weird when people had birthday parties for their pets and I never really
knew the actual birthday for my pets anyway… but when Mic got Soph she came
with a birth certificate saying her birthday was on May 5th (cinco
de mayo!). And from the beginning I joked that I’d throw her a party. And I
did. It was super chill, and really just an excuse to have a get together, and
not so much an actual birthday party. I did make her a puppy cake. I’d say I
googled the recipe… but knowing my recipe following skills you have to know
that I didn’t actually follow the recipe. In fact I found two different recipes
(one for “pup cakes” and one for a doggy birthday cake) and I combined the two
recipes based off of the ingredients I had on hand, and more or less made the
whole thing up. Of course. Man when will I ever get it together.. in the
kitchen. The cake smelled pretty gross (which why wouldn’t it, since it was a
weird mixture of carrots, peanut butter, apple sauce, etc.) but Soph LOVED it.
My family all came over and we had a Mexican theme dinner for cinco de mayo.
The original plan was to have it in the backyard because there is more space,
but it was too cold that day so we all crammed in my kitchen/living room. We
all managed to squeeze in around my kitchen table which was pretty impressive
because it’s not very big.
I love Soph more than I’d ever imagined, and I’m so glad Mic decided to surprise me with her.
He picked out a good one! I love looking through all the pictures we’ve taken
of her, which is seriously A TON! She’s so photogenic too. Of course I’d have a
little poser dog, who is used to getting her picture taken. I always joke with
Mic that our kids will be funny photo posers since I’m obsessed with taking
pictures.
We have some fun things to look forward to this summer so I’ll
hopefully have something to blog about. If people even read this? I enjoy it
anyway.
Random pictures (below) of Sophie for her first year that we've had her. I guess technically its not quite a year since we got her at 8 weeks, but you know what I mean..
